Renting a house in rural Isaan comes down to one thing?
Word of mouth or driving around looking for a “For Rent” sign.
The majority of rural Isaan people will not speak one word of English.
They cannot use social media or even know how to advertise.
If you are looking for a house to rent, you have to drive around and find the signs. There will be a number to call, and you will either need to speak the local dialect or have a Thai help you to communicate.
Renting a house probably will not have a written contract, it will be a verbal agreement between you and the landlord, with you expected to keep your promise.
They are more than happy to have your monthly rent and will not try to cheat you.
Depending on the situation, there may be no security deposit required.
You will be expected to pay the electrical bill as required.
You need to maintain a good relationship with the landlord as you may need them for a house book copy, TM 30 reference or other document related issues for your visa.
I have seen houses rent for as cheap as 3,000 thb per month. (Less than US $100).
There are houses for rent, you just need to have a way to drive to find them.
