Flooding in Phuket

Massive Flooding in Phuket due to overnight rain.

Continuous heavy rains on Friday night caused water to rise in the streets to one meter in many areas including Patong, the tourist destination of the island in Phuket.

Rat-U-Thit, Nanai and Sai Nam Yen streets are also under water. Several parked vehicles were found submerged in the water and many homes and buildings were damaged due to flooding.

The weather forecast is heavy rainfall is expected in most of the regions and heavy rainfall in the lower region and heavy rain in the south.

Southwestern monsoon in Kapli Sea in the Gulf has strengthened and more heavy rainfall caused by monsoon is expected.

Flood waters can wash away the road underneath.

It is important not to drive in these conditions unless absolutely necessary.
