7 Eleven Costs

7 Eleven is no longer cheap like you might remember.

Most people that go in 7 Eleven are spending the equivalent of at least US $2 a trip which adds up.

The famous cheese toastie, a coke and a small bag of chips can set you back 70+ thb.

For foreigners, that may sound very cheap but for locals, it is anything but cheap.

Throw in an Iced Latte and that adds another 45 thb, pushing for 1 visit total over 115 baht.

Brand names cost more. Candy like M&M’s and Snickers, are very small size and still cost 35 thb each.

Compared to the US, we would agree most things are cheap in 7 Eleven, but not for locals.

Today I spent 45 thb for an Iced Latte, then I had a bologna sandwich 25 baht, 1 liter of Coke 28 thb, and a bag of Cheetos for 20 thb. I also bought a 1 liter bottle of EST Green Soda to take home which was 20 thb.

Total 138 baht or almost US $5.

Once again very cheap for most foreigners, however, 138 baht can be almost 1/2 of the daily earnings of a Thai laborer.

Other pre-packaged meals you can warm up in the store and eat are running 50 to 60 thb each.

It is very easy to spend 100 thb per trip.

Not costly if you are paid in US dollars or have more money than the local laborers here.
