Why do the roads always get flooded in Thailand?
If you are coming to Thailand for the first time in the rainy season, you will encounter severely flooded roadways.
This is a normal experience for Thai people.
Many people blame the lack of clean drains, however, the roads flood for 1 reason?
The main reason the roads flood is the volume of rain.
Street flooding is often triggered by rainfall volume exceeding the capacity of drainage systems, especially during the monsoon season.
It can rain as much as 4″ to 7″ in 6 hours only.
This sheer volume of rain easily overwhelms the capacity to drain, thus resulted in flooded streets.
It has always been this way in Thailand.
I am pretty sure, due to the volume of rain in such a short period, that there is no solution.
If you live in Thailand, you learn to live with the flooded streets during monsoon season.
