When you are no longer a tourist and moved to Thailand, Thailand will change.
Tourists often have a false sense of “if I move to Thailand”, everyday is going to be like this.
And no, it isn’t.
Being a tourist in Thailand is awesome.
There are so many things to see and do.
The excitement of seeing things for the first time is second to none.
However, when you move to Thailand full time, that all stops.
The first issue is budget.
You will be limited by the amount of money you have each month.
The second issue is time.
If you have to work in Thailand, time is NOT going to be on your side.
Not only the long working hours, but the hassle of getting to and from your job in the scorching heat/humidity or the 6 months of monsoon rains.
Even Youtuber’s, who are out there every single day trying to make video content, get worn down by the heat, humidity, traffic and time spent videoing and editing.
When you don’t have the time or money, Thailand is just like the mundane life you just left.
Just like a siren from the sea, Thailand calls tourists with a false mystique that everyday is going to be wonderful. Visiting anywhere you want, eating whatever you want and shopping for what ever you want.
None of that is true.
Most tourists to Thailand end up renting a condo, a very small condo.
Want to have a friend come over to your 1 room condo, where the bed is in plain site of the front door?
This is the reality for many that move to Thailand after being falsely convinced Thailand will be their Utopia.
Don’t get me wrong. Foreigners can survive here.
But not one of them has ever imagined what will happen to them when they are 60+ years old?
My opinion is that the only foreigners that can build a quality life here, either have to be here on a full expat salary package, top 5 international school teacher, or digital nomad working online and getting paid western salaries. Business owners?
While you are doing that, you will have NO time to travel every day and do what you want.
You will be working fulltime just like you did in your home country.
I don’t think there are any jobs to keep you interested and excited for a lifetime.
Sorry about that.
Thailand is the ideal place to retire to when you have guaranteed income that is sufficient for the quality of life you desire.
Short of that, having to work is not the same Thailand you experienced as a tourist.
It can get old and depress you before you know it.
That can happen in as short as 1 year.
How would you ever survive and save until retirement?
Thailand is full of it’s own unique struggles and challenges.
Moving to Thailand is the easy part.
Being able to achieve the quality of life you are expecting is near impossible.
I would never recommend ANYONE move here fulltime, until they have tried living here in a fixed income for 90 to 120 days.
You might find out exactly what I am telling you, before you waste your life here.
There is a reason people in the west have to work their entire lives to be able to have assets and income in order to have a retirement.
Thailand is no different. If you are not saving for retirement, you won’t have one.
