With everything going south with the economy, US Tariff’s, etc. why is the Thai baht so strong?
Hovering at around 32 thb to US $1, things are more expensive here than ever.
There is no sound economic reason for the baht to be this strong.
The US has always leveraged claims against Thailand manipulating the currency for their benefit, although nothing ever becomes of this?
There is speculation in the population that a handful of the rich and powerful benefit, but no one else.
The US has hinted at 36% tariffs on a trade imbalance to the US of US $46,000,000,000.
This should wreck the Thai economy, force many companies into foreclosure and send the baht much weaker against the US dollar.
However, we have seen the baht maintain an unnatural strength?
It is important as a tourist and resident to understand HOW the thb baht level can directly affect you and your quality of life.
The arrogant thinking of Thai people, that they are superior in the world, is going to get a slap in the face from US Tariffs.
We can only hope the thb naturally corrects to a realistic level.
According to analytical forecasts, the price of USD/THB may reach THB 29.6376 by the end of 2025.
If you live here on a budget, better than for such a low exchange rate.
