Isaan Roosters

One thing about rural Isaan? If you have neighbors, they are sure to own roosters.

You will never need an alarm clock in rural Isaan because at the crack of dawn, usually around 5 AM each morning, the roosters will start an ungodly amount of crowing.

It happens every morning and I would like to say you get use to the noise, but only the soundest sleepers can continue to sleep.

My husband is not one of those sleepers!

He is up every morning at 5 AM as soon as the roosters start crowing.

It is simply part of rural Isaan and something you have to put up with.

You cannot complain, as this is part of everyday life.

You must adapt to your new surroundings.
