In 1927, the first hotel in Phuket was built and known in Chinese as “Un Un Hotel”. The name was later changed to “On On Hotel” for easy pronunciation in Thai and English.
The hotel appeared in a scene of “The Beach” in 2000, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, and that movie made the hotel famous to this day!
Even today the hotel is still setup for the iconic scene in the movie!
