Retiree’s with a pension have it made. No worries each month.

For all the young people that come to Thailand and have to scratch to make income each month, Thailand is not all that much fun.

We are seeing all kinds of foreigners being arrested these days for starting illegal businesses reserved for Thai people because they have no way to make an income.

Finding a job here as a westerner these days is next to impossible.

When the rules changed requiring a bachelors degree to teach English, that was the final straw in the camel’s back for many that wanted to come here and have an income.

Digital nomads that work online have an income, although there is never a guarantee how long that will last. We see stories all the time of expats that were working online only to have their job disappear less than a year after they moved here.

Youtubers. Kind of like professional athletes. Only less than 1% ever hit a level they can feel financially secure each month.

Income determines your quality of life here.

If you have high hopes of living the same western lifestyle you came from, better have a huge monthly income.

With limited income, living in Thailand is just not fun period.

That box size condo, the walls start closing in. The daily eating of street food when you yearn for western food gets old.

Better hope you can afford health insurance.

With limited income, stress becomes super high and then every little thing in Thailand from the air pollution, to the hot weather, to the traffic and crowds, to the noise starts to annoy you.

It is just not easy to have an income to live the kind of life you are expecting and unfortunately the majority find out the hard way.

Stories abound on social media how guys have come over here, met the girl of their dreams, and then after finding out they have little income, the relationship is over.

No one wants a broke foreigner. Love has a different meaning here. It’s all about meeting expectations.

Many were here for 10 years and then had to pack it back home, living in their parents basement with their new Thai family. Couldn’t make enough income here.

Moving half-way across the world is more challenging than people think. Many can initially get here.

But then they learn being here as a tourist and living here fulltime is just not the same without enough income.

If you are thinking about moving to Thailand and living here the rest of your life, understand lack of income is the one thing that will prevent that from happening.
