Today’s Word for “Where Is”

In Isaan (Northeastern Thai / Lao dialect), “where is…?” is commonly said as:

👉 อยู่ไส (yùu sǎi) = where is…?

How to use it:

  • ห้องน้ำอยู่ไส (hông-nám yùu sǎi) = Where is the bathroom?
  • ตลาดอยู่ไส (tà-làat yùu sǎi) = Where is the market?
  • ร้านอาหารอยู่ไส (ráan aa-hǎan yùu sǎi) = Where is the restaurant?

Notes:

  • ไส (sǎi) = where (Isaan/Lao)
  • This is more casual and local than standard Thai
