Finding Joy in Minimal Living

Self-sufficiency or minimal living is something the former HRM believed was best for the people of Thailand for happiness.

Anyone that has lived in Thailand a number of years has seen the exact opposite, with expansive malls no one can afford and construction projects everywhere.

The middle and upper class spend, spend, spend for new houses and cars.

“Don’t You Know Who I Am?”

Thailand personal debt is the highest it has ever been.

All to keep up and portray an image of themselves that is not true or sustainable.

Household debt is crushing a high majority of Thai families and there is no relief in sight.

Some expats might be better at Minimal Living than Thai’s, not by choice, but perhaps limited in their financial capacities.

You can find many expats renting box size condos that do not own a car, land or any other assets. But I think this is due more to lack of income than choice?

Food vendors and minimum wage workers across the country are the best at embracing minimal living. They have to due to their limited income.

The difference is these Thai people do it with a smile on their face. They have accepted their lot in life and go about their daily business and jobs, not expecting anything more.

In actuality, people do not need a house crammed full of stuff they will never use to be happy.

It is quite the opposite. The less clutter you have the better you will feel.

Minimal living is a lifestyle that involves intentionally living with fewer possessions, focusing only on what you need. It’s about removing clutter and using your time and energy for the things that remain. The goal is to live a simpler, healthier life by eliminating things that aren’t necessary.

Minimalistic design can go a long way to ensuring a healthier lifestyle and mental well being.

Some benefits of a minimalistic life are:

  1. Less clutter means less stress
  2. Time Management Improvement – You are not constantly wasting time looking for things
  3. Improved productivity and focus – This is due to your brain not having to focus on all the clutter
  4. Happier Life – No distractions due to clutter
  5. Financial Wellness – By not spending on things you do not need or use, your savings increase and this brings you a positive mental state

When you aren’t spending on materialistic things that you do not need, you have more money to go and see new things and experiences.

No one really gives any consideration to what you have to do not have.

So make your life simpler for yourself and be happy!
