Thailand’s tourism ranking has dropped to 47th place, from 36th, in the latest World Economic Forum (WEF) index.
The tourism minister’s seem to have their own idea what is going on and blaming the government for inactions.
However, I wonder if the tourism ministers understand the economic impact that rising costs have had in first world countries all around the world?
People all over the world do NOT seem to have as much free spending money as they use to.
Combine this with sky high air-fares and of course tourism will take a direct hit.
It is hard to attract tourists to Thailand or anywhere else if people cannot afford the air fares.
One thing Thailand could do with their own national airlines is to LOWER the cost of flights.
Lower flights should attract more tourists, who in turn could spend more money in Thailand offsetting to lower profits to the airlines.
Longer visa’s of 60 days on arrival is another thing I think would allow more tourists to come to Thailand and spend more money.
We need people in the gov’t to start finding solutions that will actually fix the problem.
