Road Side Fruit Stands

If you want the very best prices for fresh fruit in Thailand, find the road side fruit stands in the locations that actually grow the fruit.

Many tourists do not understand all the fruit they see for sale in Bangkok and tourist areas is bought elsewhere, trucked in and resold at much higher prices.

At an elevation of approximately 2,296 to 2,969 feet, all kinds of fresh fruit is grown in Chaiyaphum province.

Including Durian, Dragon Fruit, Longan, Mangos, Pineapples and others.

Pineapples

There is also an abundance of rubber trees grown in this area.

Resellers will buy fruit from growers and resell at a much higher price.

Yesterday I bought some “stinky beans” here for 60 thb per kilo.

Buying Stinky Beans from Grower

In my local market that evening “stinky beans” were being sold for 100 thb per kilo.

That is quite a mark up from buying directly from a grower.

Durian was bought yesterday for 69 thb per kilo.

Resellers are selling in our village for 140 thb per kilo.

Once again, quite a markup.

If you are will to travel around, you can find these local growers and whenever you want to buy some you can be assured of getting the best price and freshest fruits possible.
