A jungle chicken in Thailand is known as the Red Junglefowl (Gallus gallus), which is the wild ancestor of domestic chickens. In Thai, it is called ไก่ป่า (pronounced gai-paa), which literally translates to “forest chicken” or “jungle chicken”. They are common in Thailand’s forests, mountainous areas and are sometimes called “Bamboo Fowl”.
