Sugarcane Harvest Accidents

During the Sugarcane Harvest, January through April, sleepy Isaan villages turn into major thorough fares for sugarcane trucks racing to get their sugarcane loads to the mill.

Double trucks are loaded with as much as 40 tons of sugarcane.

Due to the fact there is a long queue (hours) waiting at the mill for their turn to unload, many drivers do not obey the laws concerning speed.

Also, when getting paid to deliver by the ton, these trucks foolishly overload themselves to make the most profit.

This often results in loads shifting, cause the truck/trailer to crash.

The sugarcane is then spilled onto the highway, causing delays and they have to wait for another truck to arrive and reload.

During harvesting season, these trucks also drop sugarcane stocks all over the roads, making hazards for motorbike drivers.

If you are on the road driving falling a loaded sugarcane truck, be advised sugarcane stocks can fall off into your path.
