The Heck with Alms

Rural Isaan people still donate (Alms) religiously to the monks that pass by each morning.

Except for this one guy, that is my father’s neighbor.

He kind of marches along to the beat of his own drum, not following any of the norms other villagers par-take in.

He is a happy go-lucky type of person, who just kind of wings it through life one day at a time.

Maybe that is all you can do when you have no steady income.

I have often believed, maybe Alms shouldn’t be just for monks, but maybe for all people in general that have no food?

Sometimes, the amount of Alms that is collected is never eaten and goes to waste.

Perhaps that could feed some less than fortunate villagers?
