You Can Do It

Do you want to move to Thailand?

Well, you can do it!

Moving to Thailand boils down to two things:

Money and a VISA.

Depending on your age, you must sort out which LONG TERM VISA you can qualify for.

The most popular VISA’s are retirement VISA for those over age 50 with a pension income.

Marriage VISA for those that are married to a Thai.

DTV VISA which is a new category of VISA that allows for those not yet of retirement age, to live in Thailand. The DTV VISA includes soft power options like studying Thai, Thai Cooking and Muay Thai.

DTV also allows for working online, although income must come from outside of Thailand.

Education VISA which can allow up to 15 months to study in Thailand.

VISA Elite for those with tons of money.

Be advised each VISA has it’s OWN financial requirements that must be met. Stick to official Thai Government Websites to research these financial requirements. Do no trust social media!

Money is the most important thing when deciding to move to Thailand.

Can you fund your stay here without ALL the stress and worries about running out of money?

If you have to work, you will find out getting a job is next to impossible unless you qualify to teach English. Even then the pay will not be enough per month to sustain you here.

No one, no matter what you see on Youtube or social media can tell you what is a solid budget for YOU. You need to work out where you want to live, what kind of lifestyle to want to be able to afford and go from there.

There is rent, utilities (electric, water, trash), mobile phone, internet, transportation, health insurance and food as the major costs.

When figuring out a budget, ask yourself if you plan to be in Thailand long term?

Will a studio condo still work for you years down the road? Will your personal spending increase? What happens if you get married?

A personal budget should be able to cover today’s 2026 costs and the appreciation of costs 20 years from now; if you plan on staying forever.

Money is equated to the Thai baht exchange rate. I have seen 45 thb to the US Dollar and now only 30 thb to the US dollar. When the baht is this low 30 thb, costs of living in Thailand can be more expensive.

Researching financial curves in Thai currency over 20 years will give you a solid idea how much the baht can swing in a negative direction.

Use the lowest exchange rates for figuring out your personal budget. Anything more will be a plus!

Moving to Thailand is the same as moving anywhere in the world.

You have to be able to qualify for a VISA to live there and be able to fund a lifestyle that can make you happy year in and year out.

Trying to live here on the cheap, is just not worth it.
