The best move you can make, is to visit the area you plan on living in before moving in.
Staying a couple weeks will give you a really good feel for your chosen location and whether or not it will meet your future relocation needs.
Often, there can be negative discovery once you are on the ground in Thailand.
You want to be 100% certain to check out your chosen location carefully before putting down any money on a rental deposit or condo purchase.
When visiting your chosen area, you should plan to visit in the early morning when people are going to work, at lunchtime, around 5 PM when people and kids are arriving home and then again around midnight to see what kind of noise may be lurking in your neighborhood.
The more effort you put into this, the better your chances of not being surprised with something so negative, you immediately want to move.
Drive around the area, check for parking, check your neighbors for noise, check for roaming packs of dogs. Do your homework!
Talk to future neighbors about potential problems, crime, and flooding.
Get all the facts on exactly what is going on in your new neighborhood.
Where are the nearest stores, pharmacies, banks, clinics and hospitals. Map out how easy and how much time it takes to get to each one.
Do you need a car at your location? Or is there enough public transport options available when you need them in a timely manner?
All of these things can make a different to your quality of life.
Imagine one week in your new location.
Go through exactly what you will be doing each day for one week.
Then make sure you have a solution for all of those things.
If you put in this kind of effort, there will be no surprises and a happy new life with await you.
Good luck!
