The “bum gun” is a handheld bidet water sprayer that is commonly found in bathrooms in Thailand. It’s used for hygienic cleaning your bottom after using the toilet.
- Usage – After using the toilet, you can reach over and use the hand sprayer to rinse your bottom clean. Then once you have cleaned your bottom with the water sprayer, wipe your bottom dry with toilet paper. The toiler paper is then discarded in the trash bin, NOT flushed down the toilet.
- Plumbing – Thailand’s plumbing systems are not designed for flushing toilet paper, so the bum gun is used instead. Flushing solid items can cause blockages in the narrow sewage pipes.
