Part of living in rural Isaan, is having to buy meat in a local, outdoor, open air market.
This is not for those with a weak stomach!
Thai people are use to this and accept it as a part of daily life.
Most expats cannot stomach the thought of 1,000 flies crawling over raw meat, out in the heat.

Fortunately, there are some meat vendors that have come up with an idea using fan motors and propellers to keep the flies off the meat! (Most don’t).

It is easy for expats to get food poisoning eating food from the open-air markets.
If there is any good news? Your stomach will get use to the high level of bacteria and you will be able to eat anything.
The flies? No thanks but we are use to that; although we do try to pick clean vendors!
Bon Appetite!
