Approximately 3,600 people drown in Thailand each year.

This includes tourists and locals.

2 of the main causes of drowning are rip currents and swimming while intoxicated.

Tourists that come to Thailand that are unfamiliar with swimming in the ocean, should educate themselves on the dangers of rip currents.

Most tourists that drown in rip currents do so because they are not familiar with the technique required to escape from the rip current.

Swimmers panic after getting caught in a rip current and drown while trying to swim against the massive current back to shore.

Educate yourself on what to do if caught in a rip current. If you know what to do, you can survive without drowning.

Swimming while intoxicated is a sure way to drown.

If you are planning on going swimming, do NOT get drunk period!

Become disoriented while swimming is a sure way to drown.

The beaches will have flags posted when it is UNSAFE to go swimming.

Red Flags mean dangerous conditions and to stay OUT of the water.

Adhere to all the safety flags.

The ocean can be very dangerous and cause drowning.
