Flight disruptions continue at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport as tensions in the Middle East impact international air travel.
Authorities reported that 42 flights on routes between Bangkok and several Middle Eastern destinations were cancelled on Friday due to airspace closures linked to the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States and Israel.
According to airport officials, 20 departing flights and 22 arriving flights operated by seven airlines were affected. The carriers involved include El Al Israel Airlines, Air Arabia, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways, Gulf Air and Kuwait Airways.
Since the situation escalated at the end of February, the total number of disrupted flights at Suvarnabhumi Airport has climbed to around 292 flights in both directions. Some airlines have already begun gradually restoring limited services to selected destinations, although schedules may still change depending on developments in the region.
Airports in southern Thailand, including Phuket, have not reported significant disruptions so far, even though several Middle Eastern airlines also operate direct routes there.
Passengers planning to travel to or through the Middle East are advised to check with their airline for the latest updates before heading to the airport.
