Disturbing news from Hat Yai. Flooding is gaining momentum
A family of five, including an elderly woman, literally broke through the roof of their home to escape the rapidly rising waters.
They were spotted and rescued by a crew from the Thai television channel PBS, which was filming the aftermath of the flooding with a drone.
In another district, Thungsao, a group of elderly people were spotted on the roof of a house. They also broke through the roof to escape the flooding. How many days they spent there, with only water and fruit, is still unknown…
According to an analysis conducted by the Agency for the Development of Geoinformatics and Space Technology, the situation is very serious:
• About 150,230 people have been affected!
• More than 25,102 homes have been flooded!
• 47 schools and 8 hospitals have been damaged!
• More than 536 kilometers of roads have been destroyed!
In most parts of Hat Yai, flooding depths reach 2-3 meters!
