It is tough surviving in Thailand.
It is no different than any other country.
Over the years, if you think Thailand is going to be a breeze, you are not thinking.
Just moving to Thailand doesn’t solve anything.
Whether Thailand, the USA, UK, Australia, etc. life is tough.
You still have to make it through to the end of your life, no matter where you live.
For younger people, that could be 40+ years or more working here.
If you have to work in Thailand, it will be 10X harder than working in your own country.
If you are retired, you still have to survive daily life.
Things can influence your life negatively in Thailand:
Financial Issues
The extreme heat and humidity.
Grid Lock Traffic.
Air Pollution.
The language difficulties.
VISA issues.
Having kids grow up here.
Medical Bills
Infidelity
Divorce
All of these things can attribute to a high level of stress and depression, which can further exacerbate bad health.
People that falsely believe they are moving to Thailand to have a better life, obviously have ZERO experience living in a foreign country.
I read comments all the time from people/families moving to Thailand that don’t have a clue.
“Oh, I can’t afford international school. I will put my kids in a bi-lingual school”
Never having a clue what a bi-lingual school is in Thailand. Bi-lingual schools may offer 1 or 2 courses in English, but the majority is all Thai, with all the children speaking Thai.
People never seem to wise up to the old saying “The grass is always greener on the other Side”.
Moving to Thailand does make anything easier.
Moving to Thailand for 99% will result in even more problems than you have in your own country.
It’s too bad people don’t try living in Thailand on their budget for 6 to 12 months before making a permanent move.
I bet after that, the majority wouldn’t think living in Thailand was all it is cracked up to be.
A good majority of Thai’s don’t even want to live here.
In 2025, there are over 1,100,000 Thai’s living abroad and you can’t wait to move here?
Even for me and my family, we struggle in Thailand at times.
Even having the money for a house here, one in the USA and money to travel internationally, we still struggle with day to day life.
I suspect most people talk themselves into moving here, not having a clue what they are getting themselves into.
Try to understand that moving to Thailand will not solve anything.
You still have to be successful at having the finances to navigate the kind of life you envision yourself having here.
