Can foreigners live a normal life in Thailand?
When foreigners move to Thailand, they have a choice what kind of life they want to live and where.
Retirees that do not have to work are in a much better position than those that have to work fulltime or those trying to make a go on social media.
Assuming you are retired, and have a guaranteed income, you have a choice as to the kind of life you want.
Some foreigners want to live in Bangkok or Pattaya and enjoy the night life. The hustle and bustle excite them and there are many businesses catering to foreigners.
I think the downside to this is having to live in a condo. Whether you rent or own a condo, it is still a condo. For some that may work, but not for many.
Renting, is a mixed bag. You can never get a truthful answer on social media as many that say renting is the way to go, disguise that thought because they cannot afford to buy a house.
How many foreigners are actually able to move to Thailand and live the same as they did in their own country?
Do you own land, a house, a new car the same as you may have in your home country?
Or are you relegated to renting and never owning anything?
Land ownership makes things very difficult for those foreigners not married to Thai’s and perhaps single foreigners have no choice but to rent?
For those that are married to Thai’s, have kids, etc. it is very easy to replicate a normal life in Thailand.
Home and land ownership, new cars, motorbikes. Gardens, fruit trees, workshops.
The same things you had in your own country.
Life can become very normal, the same as in the west.
Mowing the lawn, house maintenance, grocery shopping, washing the car, medical appointments. There is not much difference aside of the language.
You can settle into a very normal life, if that is what you are after.
Everyone has a choice and for those that choose to replicate life in the west it is possible.
For those that want to live in the cities, tourist areas and beaches, you can still find the life you are looking for.
