People Regret Moving

Every so often, I will read a story in the news about people that regret moving to Thailand.

They regret moving, they claim, because they didn’t know this or that from their own country.

If you are from the UK and do NOT understand your pension will be frozen at the amount you earn when you leave the country, then that is your OWN fault!

A story this morning about an 87 year old English Granny, has lived in Thailand for 24 years. Her pension has been frozen at 300 pounds (14,000 thb) per month.

She is very angry and regrets moving to Thailand.

I can understand that, however, people need to wise up to the fact that Thailand is no different than any other country in the world.

Did she honestly think the costs would stay the same for 24 years?

Did she NOT understand when you get that old you have serious medical bills?

She is frail and cannot be granted a fit to fly certificate.

So she is very angry she cannot return home.

When you make a decision to move half way around the world, you better have a solid, financial plan in place for as long as you live. This could be a lot more years than you think.

The world will get more expensive the next 50 years, if you have a frozen pension, give that some thought before you sell everything your own and move here.
