Physical Altercations

Did you know that Thailand has a law if you are involved in a physical altercation with 3 or more people?

Under Thai law, the offence carries a maximum penalty of one year in prison, a fine of up to 20,000 baht, or both.

Thai Penal Code Section 299: Deals with group assaults, where participants can be imprisoned for up to one year, fined up to 20,000 baht, or both.

There have been lots of punch-ups lately in Pattaya and Phuket involving foreigners.

Police have the discretion to arrest both parties in any physical altercation involving 3 or more people.

Recently, a group of 5 lady-boys and 2 Israeli’s were arrested for getting into a brawl at 2:30 AM on Pattaya Beach Road.

The police quickly arrested all 7 participants.

Tip: Be advised if you are out prowling around Beach Front Road in Pattaya at 2:30 AM, to steer clear of groups of lady boys.
