You cannot go one day without reading in the news where some foreigner in Phuket or Pattaya has broken the law.
Drunkenness, fighting, thievery, riding with no helmets/licenses, working with no work permits, setting up businesses reserved for Thai people and even murder.
No wonder the government wants to limit the visa exempt from 60 days to 30 days.
These people are always in the same age bracket and come to Thailand with no qualifications and money and expect to live here.
Why? Because it never ends well and Thai prison is not a place you want to find yourself.
When this many crimes committed by foreigners, or course ALL foreign tourists behavior comes under the microscope.
The minority of criminals ruin it for everyone.
If they do change the visa exempt from 60 days to 30 days, do not blame Thailand.
Blame all these foreigners that think they are going to come here with no long term visa’s and break our laws.
Phuket and Pattaya seem to have the most foreign criminals and demographics is pointing directly at 2 specific countries causing the most problems.
We are luck in rural Isaan, we do not have these kinds of people causing problems.
However, ALL foreign visa holders are affected when one small bunch forces the government to change the rules.
The tourist areas are not what they use to be and now many tourists come here and break the laws, stay illegally and think they are going to get away with it.
You won’t get away with it and if you don’t understand the conditions in a Thai prison, best to educate what kind of hell you are heading for.
It’s a catch 22 with the government needing tourist dollars and allowing all of these bad tourists into the country.
Rest assured the Police are doing a great job cracking down and arresting the perpetrators.
