Every April, Thailand erupts into the world’s biggest water fight. Here are the basic essentials you need for a successful Songkran.
Water-proof sunscreen. If you plan on being out for hours, this is a must have. Check 7/11.
A water gun, the bigger the better so you don’t have to refill so much.
Water Supply – Where ever you are splashing water, make sure you know where there is a water supply to refill your gun. Some vendors will have water supply stalls charging 10 to 20 baht for a refill.
Floral Shirt – Your right of passage into the world’s biggest water fight!
Water Proof Bag – This is to keep your phone and valuables dry.
Safety Glass or Goggles – This prevents high pressure water from hurting your eyes.
Don’t Do These Things
Throw dirty water.
Throw ice cold water.
Get drunk and obnoxious.
Don’t sexually harass girls/guys.
Don’t throw water on those that don’t want to get wet.
Don’t throw water on moving motorbikes.
Don’t damage private property. (Restaurants, transportation, temples).
Don’t get irritated and start fighting.
