Stray Dogs

Rural Isaan is like any other place in Thailand, in that is has an over-abundance of stray dogs.

Most villagers seem to think these dogs all started out as pets, until the owners realized they could not afford the price to feed them. Then they get dumped out in the street to live on their own.

These dogs mate with other street dogs, creating the over-abundance of street dogs you see.

We have tons of stray dogs in our village, from new puppies, to old, malnourished dogs that have been living in the streets for years.

The villagers simply no not have the financial means to feed them, so they roam around the streets eating what ever they can to survive.

Stray animals are a heart breaker, as there are so many cute and cuddly dogs. And cats, kittens, etc.

One must be careful as most of these dogs in the villages are use to being around people, but some may still try to bite you.

Part of life in rural Isaan.
