A Swedish drug trafficker wanted under an international arrest warrant has been arrested in Hua Hin, Thai immigration authorities said, as part of an ongoing crackdown on transnational crime.
Officers from the Immigration Bureau arrested the suspect, identified by police only as “Mr Noah” (alias), at a luxury condominium in central Hua Hin on the morning of 17 January. The arrest followed intelligence indicating that a foreign national linked to serious drug offences abroad was hiding in the resort town.
According to immigration officials, the Swedish national was the subject of a Red Notice issued by Interpol for alleged involvement in large-scale drug trafficking. He is accused by Swedish authorities of offences involving cocaine, amphetamines and cannabis, as well as firearms violations and dangerous driving while under the influence of drugs. Police said he had fled Sweden to avoid serving a prison sentence and had been living in Thailand for about a year.
The investigation began after residents of the condominium filed complaints earlier this year about a foreign man behaving suspiciously. They reported that he rarely left his unit, avoided contact with others and used cannabis inside the apartment, causing strong odors that disturbed neighboring residents.
