Visa Paperwork

If you plan to reside in Thailand, the most tedious task for you will be to do your initial and annual Visa paperwork.

Having a legal long term visa is the only way to stay here.

Each year foreigners have to renew their visa and go through the same tedious task of filling out all the forms and going to immigration for an annual extension.

Even if none of your data has changed from the previous year or previous 20 years, you are still required to fill out your visa extension paperwork and report to immigration annually.

I am no sure if anyone knows the reason why you have to do this annually if your situation hasn’t changed, but you have to because it is legally required.

Over time things may change and immigration may ask you for more documents/photos that the previous year.

Instead of getting upset, realize you may have to go back home and retrieve extra data before the immigration officer will approve your extension.

Getting upset will not do you or anyone else in immigration any good.

Understand immigration makes the rules and if you want to live in Thailand, you have to follow the rules.

However, painful and time consuming, the annual extension can usually be completed on the day of arrival at immigration.

1 day worth of paperwork extensions should be a small price for living here year round.
