People always ask me what do we do in Thailand, since we live here permanently?
Living here is no different than living anywhere else you have lived.
Some have to work, maintain a household, grocery shopping, laundry, you name it. Same as anywhere.
However, one thing that is interesting is that we do not frequent Thailand tourist attractions popular with foreigners.
I get the attraction for first time tourists, however, many tourists attractions in Thailand are one and done. No need to go back.
We go to local places, local festivals, and things in our own area.
When it comes time for a holiday, it is usually off to somewhere outside of Thailand.
Unfortunately, in 2025, over-tourism is becoming a huge issue in Thailand.
The sheer amount of tourists and noise, simply ruins many of the best tourist attractions in Thailand.
I mean, come on, who wants to go to Maya Bay at the same time as 1,000’s of other tourists?
Not me, that is for sure!
It doesn’t take more than 1 trip to realize many of Thailand’s tourist locations are over-priced and over-rated.
Fine for tourists, not for us.
There is a lot to said about a local lifestyle away from all the tourists and tourist areas.
Much more enjoyable than fighting the crowds and the noise.
The beauty of Thailand lies outside of the tourist areas and is yet to be spoiled by over-tourism.
