Why do foreigners move to Thailand and live in tourist areas?
Do you live in a tourist area in your home country?
Thailand has some awesome holiday destinations, however, many that move here find out the hard way that these locations are not suited for everyday life here.
When you are here as a tourist you have a pocket full of money and are flittering about here and there seeing and doing as much as you can in your alloted vacation time.
Dining out, seeing the sights, partying, having a grand old time.
However, life in tourist areas is really not like that at all.
Let’s take Phuket as an example.
Tons of nice hotels, resorts, attractions, beaches, islands.
But, over populated, massive traffic issues, more foreigners from countries like Russia and India, trash deposal problems, rising costs and a city that cannot keep up with the eco/environmental issues of a growing population.
It is becoming a westernized location, not at all an authentic Thai experience.
Pattaya is another example. Many foreigners live here because of the nightlife, red light districts, western food and other westerners. Parts are over-run with Middle Easterners and Indians.
There is crime in each of these locations and many foreigners are arrested breaking the law.
Costs are sky high as well.
Why would you want to live in the middle of that madness when you can live in a nice authentic Thai town, then visit the madness whenever you get the urge?
Sooner or later, Thailand is no different than your own country.
The newness has worn off and everything starts to irritate you.
This is where living outside the tourist areas and madness pays off.
A simple, quiet peaceful life for everyday living.
Then you can visit the madness whenever your feel the need.
It is too bad the majority of the people that move here do not understand it.
However, over the years, you will wish for that quiet, peaceful, Thai experience.
