Digital Nomads

In 2025, Thailand continues to be a popular destination for digital nomads.

With the advent of the new Digital Nomad Visa (DTV),

  • Digital Nomad Visa (DTV): This visa allows stays of up to 180 days with a valid period of five years, with the option to extend the stay once per entry for another 180 days dtv.in.th

Financial evidence: an amount of no less than ฿500,000 for the last 3 months, e.g. bank statements, pay slips, sponsorship letter.

The DTV does require 500,000 (thb) (~US $15,337) to qualify plus visa fees.

For those digital nomads working remote for foreign companies, many are paid high salaries in western currencies affording a luxurious life in Thailand.

If you are considering moving long term to Thailand on a DTV and working remote:

  1. You should first have a solid idea of the stability of your job. (You do not want to move and settle in and find out your job was eliminated).
  2. You should have the ability to find new jobs quickly.
  3. You should have a plan to save money should the job disappear.
  4. You should have a place to move to, should the job disappear
  5. You should understand how viable your job will be year after year.
  6. You should investigate, with the advent of AI technologies, if you will still have a job in a few years.
  7. You should have current job skills that will always be in demand.
  8. You should invest some of your income in low to zero risk investments to provide a backup cash flow.
  9. You should always be looking ahead to make sure you can make an income to stay in Thailand. Stay on top of your skills and demand.
  10. You should save money for retirement, medical and other issues.

Being a Digital Nomad in Thailand comes down to one thing?

The ability to earn a consistent income over the long term.

By carefully planning and ensuring your job skills are always in demand, you can make an amazing life living in Thailand.
