Street Food Misconception

Tourists and expats that move to Thailand have a serious misconception that Thai Street Food is healthy.

Newsflash! It isn’t and sorry to burst your bubble.

You may not see it or realize it, but Thai street food tends to be loaded with salt, sugar and fat. That is why it tastes so good!

Street food vendors use the cheapest ingredients they can find.

Cooking with old Palm Oil is NOT healthy.

Throw in the carcinogens from the roads and the fact these vendors do not have clean water to wash plates makes this a very unhealthy venture.

Anything with lots of sugar, carbs and cooked in seed oils is NOT good for you period.

Thailand is facing increasing numbers of patients with diabetes due to unhealthy diets.

When you disregard doing any research with what you are eating and not following the status quo, all the sugar, salt and fat can cause major health issues.

Even more so when you are older.

You should watch a street vendor cook your food so that you can understand what is in the dish. You might be shocked at the amount of sugar and salt.

Bacteria levels can be very high and until you get use to it, food poisoning can be a high possibility for newcomer’s.
