As a Thai woman born and raised in Thailand, what do I know that you do not know as an expat?
If you, as an expat, have lived in Thailand for years, you already have learned and know a lot yourselves.
We learn from experiences and trying things for ourselves.
Expats learn all kinds of things living in Thailand, most good and some bad or even painful.
So what you have experienced, you have learned on your own.
I may or may not have had the same experiences.
Even as a Thai, I may or may not know more than any of you.
The advantage a Thai may have is knowing the language.
Expats do not know everything and can always benefit from asking a Thai.
Same as us Thai learn things from expats.
We may know what to look out for, scams, unscrupulous people, or pending trouble and avoid it.
We can read and comprehend documents in our own language.
We may know cool, local spots off the beaten tourists maps.
We may or may not know what businesses have been tried and failed.
The thing is to ask for help if you need it.
Thai’s know a few things they can be helpful with.
