Start Thinking Long Term

Here is some sound advice for you. If you plan on selling everything you own and relocating to Thailand, start thinking long term.

Travelers come to Thailand, fall in love with the country and want to live here forever.

Many make a plan and do indeed move.

One thing to understand is your experience as a tourist, is in NO way related to living here fulltime.

Like a siren, Thailand calls and many people sell up and move, thinking Thailand will be the same exact magical tourist experience the rest of their lives.

Newsflash! It is not and over the years, your expectations will continue to sink lower and lower.

Just like any other location in the world, once the newness wears off, Thailand becomes a daily struggle of paying your bills to survive.

Depending on your status, retired versus having to work here, the struggle to pay your bills and survive is more challenging than your own home country. (Thai language, working for THB vs dollars).

There is a reason people work their entire lives paying their bills and just surviving in their own countries. Saving whatever they can to hopefully retire with an income someday.

Thailand is no different. Many Thai’s never retire because they are in a system with no social retirement that they can afford to live on.

Another thing about Thailand, it is very rare to find a job that can pay you enough to have a comfortable, financially worry-free life.

All those 100’s of Youtuber stories, “Live in Thailand On $1,000 a Month” are not even remotely true. Better understand that right now!

You need to realistically have a clear idea of how your life in Thailand will be at your income level and whether that lifestyle will be enough in your future or not?

Many expats tire over the years due to not having enough income to live the way they want.

A 5 year, 10 year, 15 year, 20 year and 30 year plan, looking at how your life will be here might open your eyes to that is not the future you want or expect.

And I am talking about supporting yourself only.

For the males, imagine getting a GF that you want to marry and she wants land, a house, new car and other things you cannot afford. Better understand what will happen next.

Thailand and other countries have forecasted data out there 25 years. It is good to educate yourself on how things can change over the years.

You need to understand your realistic life at your budget level and whether or not they will keep you happy and sane over the years.

Every place in the world can get old if you are not living the way you want.

Thailand is no different.

Look ahead long term if you want to survive and be happy here the rest of your life.

If you don’t Thailand will eat you up when you can least afford to go home.
